Admission in 2nd year of Master's - M2

Level of admissions and level of studies required

You need to have validated, in a relevant scientific field:

  • a Licence/Bachelor and 1 years of Master’s studies (i.e. a total of 240 ECTS)
  • or at least 4 years of university studies at a foreign university.

(3rd year student-engineers at ENSAIA can enroll in M2 in parallel with their Engineer program)

Your candidature will be examined in two phases by an admissions jury:

  • Study of the dossiers: a general ranking of all the dossiers received is established and the better ranked candidates will be invited to present themselves for an interview.
  • Interview with an admissions jury: this will establish the final ranking. After the interview, the jury will decide on will decide on admitting, placing on a waiting list or rejecting the candidature.

Selection criteria

The admissions jury pays particular attention to the following elements:

  • the academic quality of your dossier
  • your scientific experience 
  • your career plans.

For students from a non-French-speaking country, a minimum level in French is required.

Admissions procedure calendar in 2nd year of Master's

Read the requirements attentively to make sure that you fulfill all the conditions for eligibility.

  • March: candidature application to download at  https://ciell.univ-lorraine.fr
  • End of April: Deadline for sending candidature dossiers
  • End of May: evaluation of the dossiers by the admissions jury
  • Mid-June: Notifications sent to candidates admissible for interviews 
  • 3rd week in June: Admissible candidates present themselves to the admissions’ jury.
    For students outside of France: the interview can be by telephone.
  • End of June: Notification of the admissions results
  • September: the university year starts

Enrollment fees (on an indicative basis)

The cost of the Master’s program is covered for the most part by the French State. Student fees for a Master’s are:

  • University fees €200/year
  • Tuition fees €50/year
  • Student health insurance (mandatory): €200/year

This is the order of magnitude of the costs given on an indicative basis so that you can plan your budget.

Immigration formalities

Students outside of France, your request for admission, alone, does not authorize your entry on French soil. You must imperatively find out the administrative steps concerning your entry into France (visa, CEF procedure, etc.).
