Reaction and Process Engineering Laboratory

The general scientific objective of Reaction and Process Engineering Laboratory is the study of processes taken in their totality and their complexity. In the unit, the Bioprocess-Biomolecule team’s research activities fall under Bioprocess Engineering as applied to the fields of health, food and the environment. This research primarily deals with:

  • An integral approach, which includes: scalable biocatalytic processes, the reaction medium (often very complex), the technologies and operating procedures specific to bioreactor-separators, productivity performance and the properties of the biomolecules produced.
  • A multi-scale approach: molecular and intracellular scale, of the catalyst and the process.

Areas of research:

  • Cell factory approach
  • Cell - environment interactions
  • Modelling, control and optimization
  • Production processes of new biomolecules
  • Clean bioprocesses

The team is composed of 14 teacher-researchers researchers, 5 technicians, 15 doctorate and post-doctorate researchers
